John Muir HS Status

John Muir was an installed site until 2004-05 school year, when the science
department moved to a new building at the rear of the campus and the original
building was gutted for renovation.  The computer and all other indoors
CHICOS equipment were brought back to Kellogg, and the site was put on "NA"
not active status.  Cable run remained in place (though construction workers
probably have destroyed/cut it by now) and equipment remains on the roof of
the A building to the best of my knowledge -- only interior work was planned.

The new science building has a very high, sloped roof, and presents a real
challenge for installation.  With teacher Gurupreet Khalsa we developed a 
new installation plan involving shmoos placed on the open balcony area directly
east of his classroom.  However, the district facilities personnel did not
approve the plan but wanted an enclosure to prohibit access to the units.
Funding and oversight for the construction of this enclosure -- and whether 
it would be aesthetically appealing to the school administration -- was 
never resolved.
