Coming soon: the AUGER Observatory

Located on a plain called Pampa Amarilla in western Argentina.
Will consist of 1600 water-cherenkov detectors (each containing 3000 gallons).
Will also use fluorescence detectors to supplement ground data.
Construction is underway and should be complete in 2004.
Since CHICOS observes a different part of the sky, the arrays will be complementary.
