Detector design
- Each "Shmoo" consists of a layer of scintillator (about 1 sq.m.) inside a lightproof container.
- Particle hits produce photons which are detected by a photo-multiplier tube.
- A GPS antenna provides 12 ns timing resolution so that hits at widely separated sites
can be correlated.
