2004 Workshop Wrapup

Summer CHICOS Activities 2003

Each week during July and August 2003, a high school teacher along with two to four students visited Caltech to commission new CHICOS array sites in the lab. Each week, the participants assembled and tested complete CHICOS detector stations. During later weeks of the program, students and teachers also built newly-developed "watchdog" circuits to help keep CHICOS sites running. The lab experience was supplemented by daily presentations on topics in CHICOS and cosmic ray physics, as well as campus tours and lunches with undergraduate students and CHICOS researchers.

Summer CHICOS Activities 2002

Each week during July and August 2002, a high school teacher along with two high school students visited Caltech to build CHICOS hardware components in the lab. Every participant constructed, tested and successfully completed several working electronics units. The lab experience was supplemented with daily presentations about cosmic rays, cosmic ray observatories, an overview of the CHICOS project, and a hands-on investigation of all the hardware which makes up a CHICOS detector site.
